A lover of good wine.

I'm Christian and, above all, a wine enthusiast. My benchmark houses are Artadi, in Rioja Alavesa, and Alión and Aalto, in Ribera del Duero; I'm a sucker for reds with body, firm tannin and fresh acidity, whether they come from Ribera, Priorat, Rioja, a good Mencía or the southern Rhône.
At home I have a 120-bottle wine cabinet that I try to keep well stocked at all times: I'm a Vinoselección subscriber and I never let a good offer slip by. For almost two years I was sales director at Bodegas Peñafiel, a short chapter that let me see the wine world from the inside.
For years I've been sharing wines and recommendations with my group of friends, «Amigos del buen vino» (Friends of good wine). And if the bottle comes with some good soul or blues, even better.
How we work
The recommendations are based on demanding criteria: the product has to be well made, last many years and make a difference in the glass.
That's why you won't find generic bargains here. Each category has three levels —Good, Better and Pro— and all three are of proven quality: the Good level is already something a professional would buy; Better and Pro are the brands I use and love, such as Krosno, Josephine, Zalto or Riedel for glassware.
We don't accept payment to appear in a guide. When a product doesn't convince us, we say so. If you buy through our affiliate links we receive a small commission that doesn't make your purchase more expensive: you pay exactly the same price as in the shop; that's how the project is funded.
